Karlee Kreis, Bachelor of Business (Marketing/Advertising), Bachelor of Business (Honours) graduateKarlee Kreis – Bachelor of Business (Marketing / Advertising), Bachelor of Business (Honours) graduate

Studying at QUT gave Karlee the chance to apply her studies in a real world environment. In her 3rd year, Karlee was awarded a work placement with Coca-Cola Amatil’s marketing department and joined the Business Study Tour to China. “My work placement provided invaluable ‘real world’ marketing experience. I worked across the entire marketing department from trade marketing and advertising to sponsorships and events.

"Now in my current position I get to develop relationships with business decision makers in my clients’ organisations, including Channel 7, WIN Television and Dominos."

Karlee utilises both her marketing and advertising majors, working in a variety of roles with APN Newspapers, from advertising co-ordination and account management to new business development.

Next time you’re at the supermarket, or even your local corner store, take a look around at the range of products that are available. You can even buy milk in dozens of varieties and sizes these days.

Why? All these products have been developed to suit different consumers’ needs, preferences and motivations.

If you’ve ever wondered why your favourite jeans are only sold at certain stores, had an idea on how to improve the features on your mobile phone, or thought about interesting ways companies can communicate better with their customers, you should consider a career in marketing.

Marketing is all about putting together a comprehensive program to sell products and services. It encompasses the conceptualisation of new products, their packaging and contents, deciding where and how to sell them, and how to communicate with potential customers about the benefits of your products and services.

The marketing major is offered at Gardens Point and Caboolture campuses.
