School of
Economics and Finance

The School of Economics and Finance has developed very close working relationships with industry, relevant professional organisations and government. Furthermore, given the internationalisation of Australia's economy, its firms, industries and financial markets, QUT business graduates with strong qualifications in economics and finance are extremely well placed to find exciting, rewarding positions in prominent private sector companies or in any of the major public sector policy agencies at federal, state or local government levels.

The School of Economics and Finance is totally committed to producing graduates with strong analytical skills, who will be flexible enough to cope with rapidly changing national and international environments. To ensure this outcome, staff continually seek to improve their teaching methods and to maintain active research programs.

Research involvement by staff ensures that students always receive state-of-the-art knowledge in their chosen field. Upon completion of their degree, students who achieve a high enough standard may proceed to an Honours year. This is a desirable option, given the increasing competition for graduate employment in labour markets.
