Research Students Colloquium

The Queensland Community Foundation (QCF)  has embarked on an ambitious research project to identify priorities for future areas of funding and activity. This project will be of immense value, not only to the Foundation, but also to the Queensland charity and community sector generally. The project's final report due in November 2005 will set out a blueprint for funding priorities upon which the Foundation’s own General Fund grants can be targeted for the ensuing five years. Further information is available from QCF.

There are three parts to the seminar series.

Seminar 1. Who are Queensland's charities and Deductible Gift Recipients?

Wednesday 13 April 2005
4.30 p.m to 6.00 p.m
QUT, Gardens Point Campus, S Block, Level 12, Owen J Wordsworth Room

Myles McGregor-Lowndes will present new findings about Queensland charities and deductible gift recipients drawn from the endorsement database of the Australian Taxation Office. This establishes what role philanthropy presently plays in their current income streams. Comparisons will be made to OECD countries and other Australian states.

This seminar opens up the floor to philanthropic organisations who distribute funds to nonprofit organisations in Queensland and looks ahead to granting practices over the next five years. How much are they likely to distribute? What are the priority areas for funding? How do they want recipient organisations to report on the use of funds? Speakers include representatives of private, corporate, government and trustee organisations.
