What Is a Podcast?

In essence, a podcast transmits audio content – a discussion, speech or lecture - over the Internet so anyone, anywhere can share material. Its real benefit is the ease with which it can be used.

Downloading is a simple matter because podcasts are usually MP3 audio files so they are suitable for transferring onto a computer, an iPod or any portable digital-media device that can play MP3 files.

Podcasts are usually subscription-based with regular updates that are automatically downloaded for listeners to access.

How Do I Get the CPNS files?

The CPNS-QUT-Nonprofit Podcasts are produced by The Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies at Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane. They are a FREE service for all those interested in the key issues affecting the nonprofit sector.

By subscribing, you will automatically receive timely, brief updates onto your computer. Topics will cover a vast array of issues relating to current nonprofit tax, legislation, accounting, governance, volunteering and fundraising, newly released research findings, and interviews with visiting CPNS fellows and others.

It’s easy to subscribe and you can un-subscribe at any time.

How do I subscribe to the CPNS Podcasts?

If you have a computer that's connected to the Internet, you're ready to start.

The most common way of receiving a podcast is through a podcast receiver (or podcatcher). If you are using Windows or a Mac/Apple, we suggest using iTunes, which can be freely downloaded from Apple: Download iTunes or Juice. iTunes or Juice makes it easy to subscribe to and manage podcasts.
