Co-Founder and Co-Director, Medical Aid Mission for Communities in Need

A 2007 QUT biomedical engineering graduate, Achi co-founded Medical Aid Mission for Communities in Need (MAMCI) with colleague Taewon Kong. MAMCI is an innovative student based international aid and development program aimed at providing improved access to health care for disadvantaged communities in Papua New Guinea. Achi is using his skills and passion to help and change the lives of neglected communities in PNG as well as change the lives of young students empowering them to make a positive change in this world.

Achi was also one of the founding members of the QUT chapter of Engineers without Borders and currently acts as the Vice President of the Young Business Forum (YBF).



Jenny Woodburn


Jenny Woodburn
Former Australian Youth Ambassador for Development in Bangladesh and current QUT Law student

Jenny has a background in social work/community development and an interest in social justice. Her interest in (and hopefully her understanding of) global inequalities was heightened after working in Bangladesh for 8 months. Jenny was based in Dhaka at a school for child labourers as a volunteer with the Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development Program. She is studying law at QUT but prior to this enjoyed a range of leisure activities!




Paul O'Callaghan

Australian Council for International Development (ACFID)

Paul O’Callaghan is the Executive Director of the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID), which represents 70 Australian non-profit aid and development organisations.  He serves on the Foreign Minister’s Aid Advisory Council and is a member of the National Non-Profit Roundtable and the Australian Collaboration. He has been Co-chair of the World Bank’s Asia-Pacific civil society network in 2006-07 and has served on the boards of several non-profit organisations. He served as the deputy CEO of Australia’s National Disability Services umbrella organisation from 2001-2005.  He previously had several Australian diplomatic appointments, including as High Commissioner to Samoa (1997-2000) and appointments in Malaysia and Thailand.  He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.    

 

 

Myles McGregor-Lowndes

Myles has advised and held board positions in a large variety of nonprofit organisations over a period of 25 years.  He is a consultant to McCullough Robertson Lawyers engaged solely in high level legal and taxation advice to large national and international nonprofit organisations. He is also a member of the ATO Charities Consultative Committee on the introduction of the New Tax System and advisor to the ATO on nonprofit taxation training and education materials and served on the recent Volunteering Australia Taskforce investigating the Rising Costs of Volunteering. Myles will be releasing CPNS Working Paper No 41 Tax Deductible Donations Made by Individual Australian Taxpayers in 2005-06 shortly.
