Charitable Donor Survey

What is the need for this research?
This will be the first Australian study to seek insight into the factors influencing the decision to make a charitable bequest or not, with implications for nonprofit organisations and the Australian community at large.

What are you asking me to do?
Your participation involves completing a 29 question survey and is completely voluntary. Your decision to participate will in no way impact upon your relationship with QUT or the charity you support.

Expected benefits
While you are unlikely to benefit directly from participating in this survey, your responses will contribute to:

• A better understanding of attitudes about charitable giving which will assist charities; and
• A more refined model of bequest decision-making utilising the theory of planned behaviour.

Risks
In the survey we include some questions about any plans you might have to leave a legacy to a charity in your Will. For many people this is a highly personal and private matter, so please leave blank any questions you prefer not to answer. Otherwise, there are no risks beyond normal day-to-day living associated with your participation in the project.

Confidentiality
All comments and responses are anonymous and will be treated confidentially. The names of individual persons are not required in any of the responses. If you have made a charitable donation you are welcome to identify the nonprofit organisation to which you donated but this is optional. Nonprofit Organisations will receive summaries of responses from their donors but only in aggregated form.

The Research Ethics Officer is not connected with the research project and can facilitate a resolution to your concern in an impartial manner.
