Career Summary

Gordon’s research fields include transport, institutional economics, risk management, the economics of information, communication theory, and systems theory. He has written about numerous industries such as film making, shipping, air transport, mining, engineering, financial services, retailing, and steel making. His is also interested in co-operative enterprises and the professions.

Gordon’s research explores the dynamics of inter-firm relations within the international economy. Specifically, his work investigates how enterprises employ formal and informal mechanisms to support knowledge transfers, and how they devise techniques to collaborate in the creation of new knowledge. The aim is to extend received theory and guide practice. Gordon has published 5 books (with two forthcoming), 30 refereed articles, and numerous papers and reviews.

Gordon has taught subjects in economics, business history, management, and international business at universities in Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.
