Career Summary

Claire is a lecturer in the Bachelor of Business (HRM) and Master of Business (HRM) in the School of Management, QUT. She coordinates and teaches units focusing on strategic human resource development, training and development, and human resource management practices. Claire is the manager of the accredited QUT Registered Training Organisation and has served on Faculty and School committees. During 2004-2006, she completed a secondment as a QUT and Faculty of Business Learning and Teaching Consultant, working with academic staff on the implementation of the University’s revised assessment policy, the introduction of criterion referenced assessment, and curriculum design. In the corporate sector, Claire specialised in training and development and organisational change. Her Masters dissertation investigated the impact of organisational change on middle management. Her PhD explored influences on individual workers’ knowledge generation and sharing practices. Her research findings on curriculum design and development, organisational change and knowledge management have been presented at academic conferences in the UK, Europe, Hong Kong and the US.

In 2003 Claire was awarded a Faculty of Business Certificate of Excellence in Teaching. In 2004, (with Associate Professor Lisa Bradley and Dr Amanda Gudmundsson), Claire received and successfully completed a Faculty of Business teaching and learning grant for developing Criterion Referenced Assessment in the HRM major. She is Deputy Chair of the School of Management Teaching and Learning Committee and has served on a range of other SOM committees. In 2007 she was awarded the Faculty of Business Innovation in Teaching award.
