Career Summary
Mark is a senior lecturer in the School currently lecturing in international economics and industry analysis. His current funded research projects include work for Queensland Main Roads on Financing Transport Infrastructure in these challenging times and for South West Natural Resource Management on Agricultural Viability. Mark’s long term research interest in industry development in open economies saw him invited to the 2020 Summit with follow up research on food security. As an applied economist with experience over many industries, Mark draws from theoretical areas of regional and industry economics, impact analysis and economics more generally. He has also convened a number of well-supported summits and seminars to advance dialogues on matters of particular importance to the Queensland and Australian economies.

- Coordinator of research in School of International Business and Chair of the School Research and Development Committee
- Co-convenor of Business Articulation and Relationship Development in Australia, Europe and Asia (BARDAEA) international research project.
- Industry funded research into agricultural industries, particularly sugar.
- Founding joint Editor International Journal of Applied International Business
- Convening industry conferences including “Evaluating free trade and beyond” (2003), the “Summit on Sugar” (2002) and the National Conference on Dairy Deregulation (2000)
- Keynote addresses to academic and industry conferences
- Submissions, including invited oral presentations, to various Senate, House and Productivity Commission Inquiries.
