Career Summary

Peter Verhoeven joined the School of Economics and Finance at QUT in August 2008. Previously he was Senior Lecturer at Auckland University. He obtained a PhD in Financial Econometrics from the University of Western Australia in 2004. His primary research interests and expertise are in empirical finance on diverse topics including investment strategies, risk measurement, market microstructure, dividend modelling and forecasting, financial analysts' forecasts, capital structure and corporate governance. Peter has extensive teaching experience at both the graduate and executive levels and has taught in many countries in the Asia-Pacific Region, including New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. He has supervised in excess of 50 postgraduate (Honours, Masters and PhD) dissertations. Peter is the author of more than 15 papers in refereed academic journals and book chapters, including Pacific-Basin Finance Journal, Journal of Contemporary Accounting and Economics, Derivatives Use, Trading & Regulation, Thunderbird International Business Review and Accounting and Finance. His research track record includes success in securing numerous competitive research funding.
