A good knowledge of maths is important when studying economics and finance.

If you would like to test your maths knowledge, try out our short maths test (PDF, 16kB) or have a look at our basic maths booklet (PDF, 289kB), which covers all areas which are relevant to your economics or finance studies.

You will find that the material covered in this booklet has all been covered during your secondary school studies. The booklet is therefore only intended to be a refresher.

It is important to ensure that you have a good grasp of maths concepts early in your studies. If you are concerned about your maths level, we encourage you to take advantage of our "pit-stop" tutorial sessions which are run each week during normal teaching periods.

These are entirely voluntary and are in addition to your regular tutorials in your units. If you are interested, ask your lecturer for further details.
