Vision

Our vision is to be a destination of choice for high quality staff and students, known for our excellence in real world teaching, research, executive education and service; our deep engagement with the communities we serve; and the capacity of our graduates to work effectively in a changing and internationalised workplace

Mission

The mission of the QUT Faculty of Business is to provide real world focused teaching, research, executive education and service. We seek to provide quality in all our activities and, through doing so, to build our engagement and reputation internationally.

Values

Informing our mission statement and the core activities of the Faculty is a set of articulated values:

  1. Quality

We are a quality institution reflected by the students we admit, the academic and professional staff we employ, the community organisations with which we interact, and the international partners with whom we associate. We interpret quality broadly, emphasising the need to achieve outcomes that ensure our graduates’ readiness for employment in the short term and preparation for life-long learning in the longer term. Further, we maintain ongoing processes to monitor quality in our delivery of teaching, research, administration, executive education and service.
  2. Community

The Faculty is closely connected to the broader community, particularly as evidenced by our many links with the business community. We also have a strong, collegial internal community with Schools working together to meet common outcomes; interdisciplinary programs with other Faculties at QUT; and research programs that extend across Schools within the Faculty and across faculties, centres and institutes within the University.
  3. Diversity

We value diversity in who we are and what we try to achieve. This is indicated by our desire to continually broaden an already culturally-diverse staff and student body and to include traditionally underserved groups; by our efforts to internationalise our curriculum; by the flexible way in which we offer our curriculum; and by our commitment to equity. These values extend to all levels of our organisation, including students, academic and professional staff, and other constituents.
  4. Shared Responsibility

The Faculty values a collaborative and cooperative work environment. All members of the Faculty community have the opportunity to contribute to the management and leadership of programs and activities in Schools and the Faculty. Through groups and processes such as our committee structure, subject and area coordination, and School and Faculty administration teams, every member of the Faculty may share in management and leadership. Student representatives are members of some School and Faculty committees and have the opportunity to contribute to decision making processes in the Faculty.
  5. Integrity

The Faculty values integrity, at a personal and at a group level, for both staff and students. This includes academic integrity in the way in which we teach and conduct research; a commitment to ethics both in our own actions and the actions we encourage and expect from students, and as a part of our curriculum; and a focus on social responsibility.
